And the walls became the world all around (1999)

And the walls became the world all around is an experiment in using a very limited sound palette to create a coherent work.

The sounds in the piece were generated with Arboretum’s MetaSynth software, which lets you draw sounds in an environment where the pitch axis is vertical and the time axis is horizontal, like a musical score. It’s a very tactile, intuitive way to create.

I made a limited palette, treated the sounds in SoundHack, then assembled/composed them in Pro Tools.
